We are starting a science unit on the states of matter.
The students loved acting out being a solid, a liquid and a gas.
As a solid the molecules are tightly packed, so the students stood
shoulder to shoulder, holding hands. As a liquid the molecules are
spread out a bit, so they held hands but spread out away from each
other. As a gas the molecules can be farther apart from each other,
so they let go of their hands, and spread out.
After that, they went around the room deciding if items were solids or liquids.
They sorted their data into a T - chart.
