How can you build a Metre?

After learning all about the centimeter, we moved on to the meter.  

The big question was, 

"How can you build a meter?"

'I used 50 snapcubes to make a meter.'

'I had 67 Lego blocks to make a meter.'

'10 straws are 1 meter.'

'It took 66 blocks to make a meter.'

'9 popsicle sticks make a meter.'

'10 pipecleaners make 1 meter.'

'18 Lego blocks make a meter.'

These are things we thought would be about 1 meter.  After making our predictions,

we actually measured them using a meter stick.
