Symmetry

As an introduction to symmetry we read a story called, It Looks Like Spilt Milk.

After the story we 'spilled some milk' and made some symmetrical pictures.
We used white paint to look like milk, created a line of symmetry by
folding our papers and created a symmetrical picture.

Each student wrote about their picture.
"It looks like spilt milk, but it's a butterfly..."

Next, we had a symmetrical building challenge.  Each player
can only build on their side of the ruler.  Player one puts down
a shape on their side.  Player 2 has to 'match' it on the other side
of the ruler.  They made some really cool designs.
