Literacy Centres are up and Running!!!
We have been working hard to learn the rules and routines of literacy centres. Each week the students will rotate through 8 literacy based activities (2 per day) where they will practice skills they have learned. This week's centres were lots of fun!
They listened to an online story of their choice through the Windsor Public Library.
They learned how to login to Kidblog, and respond to posts. This was
a class favourite. You will be hearing more about this as the year goes
on.
Making silly sentences by unscrambling phrases.
After reading the story, Oliver Button Is A Sissy, as a class, the center
groups were required to retell the story using picture prompts.
Building word wall words using play-dough...another class favourite!
The wildest (most fun) activity of all was Noun Bingo.
A full card of people, places, things and animals won a Bingo!
These literacy centres are meant to involve your child
in their learning as much as possible. As time goes on they will
be helping to create ideas for our centres so the content is even more
meaningful to them.
