As part of our Social Studies Unit on Global Communities we took
a look at some crafts from different countries.
First we looked at aboriginal bark paintings originating from
Australia. The paintings were done on pieces of tree bark
using mainly dots and focused on animals.

Next, we took a trip back to Africa and watched some videos
on how to make a basket by weaving branches and leaves. The
students learned how to weave using construction paper and created
a place mat to use at home.
These projects fulfilled some curriculum expectations from Social Studies and
art!
