3-D Shapes

Geometry
Identify and describe various three-dimensional figures (cubes, prisms, pyramids)
Sort and classify three-dimensional figures by their geometric properties using concrete materials
Create models and skeletons of prisms and pyramids
Build a structure using three-dimensional figures and describe the the two-dimensional shapes and three-dimensional figures in the structure

We are starting our unit on Geometry.  This unit is short as there are only a few curriculum expectations we need to cover.

The students always enjoy this unit and they jumped right in!
We started off with some building using three-dimensional solids (borrowed from JK/SK...thanks!!)

While one group of students was building, the other group was hard at work identifying
edges, faces, and vertices with the teacher.

The next day we brought out the marshmallows and toothpicks for building.
