Happy Earth Day!

Happy Earth Day!!

Today we made recycled paper!
The kids scavenged through recycle bins for their favourite
coloured paper, cut them up and soaked them in water.

Next we used the blender to turn the paper into 'pulp'.

They pressed the pulp through a screen and soaked as much water up
]as they could in old blankets and towels.

We let it dry and...we have recycled paper!
It was a lot more work than they imagined.  I think
we will all be a little more aware of how we can save paper
in our daily lives.

Next we read a beautiful story called, Miss Rumphius.

Miss Rumphius' grandfather told her when she was a child that
she should work to make the world a more beautiful place.
So she began planting seeds everywhere she went and her flowers brought
joy and beauty to the world.  After hearing the story we decided
to paint flowers to make our school more beautiful.

We ended the day with a story read by a friend!
