Student Writing Exemplars

We have been working very hard on story writing lately.  The children are getting very good at using their story planners to write an organized story with some supporting details.  We have discussed how important the supporting details are if you want someone to enjoy your story and really understand what is happening.

The Ministry of Education has published a number of student work samples that are marked using the  same rubric that I will be using to mark your child's writing.  If you would like to review these samples, click on the link below.  It shows you a few different samples of level 1 work, level 2 work, level 3 work and level 4 work with explanations of how the teacher arrived at the final mark.

Please remember that every child develops differently and they each develop at their own rate.  We are not looking for perfection, but progress in everything they do.
